TDI Closed Circuit Technical Diving Courses

Technical Diving International (TDI) was formed in 1994 by some of diving’s most experienced instructors. The aim was to bring technical diving applications to a wider audience. TDI’s training materials have become known as the best in the industry, with the most professional resources available. Most importantly, they have the best safety record of all training agencies and have become the largest, specialised dive agency in the world.

TDI instructors maintain the highest levels of professionalism, standards and quality instruction. This ensures that certification is earned so that students walk away proud and competent technical divers.

Blue Marlin Tech have been a TDI technical facility for over 15 years and wholeheartedly agree with their philosophy. We currently employ two instructor trainers, two technical instructors and 1 technical guide.
AP Evolution Rebreather Courses are also offered.

Course Components:
The TDI Air Diluent Closed Circuit Decompression Procedures Diver Course is the second level certification course for divers wishing to utilize a closed circuit rebreather (CCR) for air decompression diving to depths of 40m.

Alternatively, divers can choose to utilize a Closed Circuit Rebreather (CCR) for mixed gas diving using a Helitrox Diluent. The objective of the course is to train divers in the benefits, hazards and proper procedures for diving a CCR and to develop basic CCR diving skills, to a maximum of 45 metres, using an air/nitrox/helium diluent for formal decompression diving. Students are permitted to utilize a diluent and bailout mix with no greater than a 20% helium content and no less than a 21% oxygen content, and are permitted to use up to 100% oxygen for decompression.

  • Setup and maintenance of the unit
  • Loop volume management
  • Calibration of electronics
  • Emergency procedures
  • Buoyancy control
  • CNS tracking
  • Decompression dive planning
  • Bailout skills and gas management
The individual TDI CCR manuals provide comprehensive information about the units and how they operate during a dive.

Maximum Depth: 40 or 45 metres

Prerequisite:

  • Minimum age 18
  • TDI Air Diluent CCR diver or equivalent from an agency recognized by TDI
  • 50 rebreather hours over 50 logged dives on a specific unit or Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures diver 50 logged dives.

Course Duration:
6 days, 7 dives

Additional Course Information:
